Womens Skills

I was listening to the news at lunchtime today, and had to laugh. They were talking about "lady skills", and how current generations no longer seem to have them. So I wonder, how many of you DO have them?

Making a Roast
Sewing
Pressing clothes
Baking (from SCRATCH, not a boxed or bagged mix)
Cooking (again, from scratch)
Embroidery
Drapery
Knitting/Crochet
Home Canning

If your washing machine died, could you still get the laundry done, say... in the bath tub? How about getting them dry on the line?

Would you freak out if you had to cook chicken from a whole bird which you, yourself, have to cut apart?

How about gardening? As in growing food. (That you could later can.)

Are these skills still being taught? At home? School? I think there are still a good number of ladies that could do all these things. At least if they read instructions. ;-) (And yes, I can do them all.)

  3. I can do it all! Gardening is not my forte - of course the deer eat everything...
I can bake better than I can cook, but with a good recipe, anything is possible.
