Being inspired but trying not to be stupid

I had an awesome opportunity today to hear a presentation by Tim Samaras! It was the best geeky day ever! :-D I plan to get one of my majors in Meteorology. I want to be out on one of those teams collecting all this important (and very cool) data. My daughter is completely against me doing anything involving storm chasing, but oh well! It's been a dream of mine since I was her age. (And although "Twister" was a good movie, it's not accurate. And they were being stupid. I don't plan to be stupid.) So much has evolved in the technology world that I am going to really have to keep focused to learn it all. I am pretty good at predicting what's going to happen with the weather, but I don't sit and look at the weather models all day to do it. I "feel" it. Not gonna cut it when it comes to figuring out how to improve on safety measures and figure out the why's and how's of storm development. :-P So I need to go back to school. And I want to do it soon! I had planned to home school all the way through, but part of me is struggling now with that decision. I've sat here thinking on and off for months now about how I could go back sooner rather than later. *sigh* I am inspired to go, but I know right now isn't the time. School will still be there later when things line up right for me to go. I can still get the 2 majors I want. I'll still be young enough to get a job in at least one of them, I'm sure. Until then, I can continue being an amateur. (And right more often than the weather man!)
