Bridges

for animals?!?!

The recent story about the squirrel bridge got me thinking. (I know, I know...Sometimes that's a dangerous thing!) Anyway, yeah. Squirrels are cute. But, they are animals. And most animals that I am aware of, do not follow the same rules and instincts that us humans do. In the study they did about these poor little 5 squirrels a year getting hit, did they also study weather or not they know what a bridge is and how to use one? I just cannot see ANY animal using a bridge to cross. I don't think they have "the smarts" for it. Animal sees bridge, but doesn't know what it is. So it investigates. Sniffs it, maybe pokes at it a little, but probably will determine that it's nothing important and crosses directly under it...in the cool shade. Then....SPLAT!!!

My case is closed.

  1. I had a dog who was afraid of crossing bridges...especially if he could see through them. I had to carry him over them or allow him to go through the water. sigh!

but for squirrels? gimme a break!
